2 Egyptian police officers injured by Sinai traffickers
Two Egyptian police officers were reportedly shot and injured on Saturday in separate clashes with smugglers near the border between Israel and the Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian sources told Ma'an.
A security source based in the Sinai said that the two were injured in separate incidents between Egyptian police and armed smugglers who were attempting to help African migrants cross the border fence and enter Israel.
The source identified the victims as Ramadan Abd al-Ghani Laythi, 21, and Abd al-Nabi Jad Hussein, 29.
Both officers sustained gunshot injuries in the foot and were evacuated to a public hospital in El-Arish city in North Sinai.
