Erikat: Israel Chooses Settlements As Alternative for Peace
Al-Huriya News Agency - PLO Executive Member Sa'eb Erikat stated today that recent practices by the Israeli government against Palestinians confirm that Israel has chosen Settlements and continuation of aggressions as alternative for peace.
Erikat said during his meeting with Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Anmrg, envoy of UN Secretary General Rober Serry, and the U.S. envoy to the peace process, Martin Indyk.
Erikat confirmed Israeli violations against Palestinians the latest of which was invading Jenin Refugee Camp which led to the killing of 4 people and wounding dozens others. In addition to the Israeli bids represented by 2500 new Settlement units, homes' demolitions, displacement of citizens, the continuation of Gaza bloackade, and the aggressions on Al-Aqsa mosque. He further elaborated that, all of are considered as a methodology that aims at destroying efforts exerted by the American Administration and the Quartet to acheive the two-state solutions based on 1967 borders.
Erikat asserted that the Israeli practices, and the rejection of all principles stipulated by the international law to solve all problems, including Jerusalem, refugees, borders, water, Settlements, and the release of prisoner, confirm the Israeli government rejection of peace and negotiation.
At the end, Erikat called upon the international community to held Israel accountable for its practices and to stop dealing with Israeli as a state that is over the law.
